A really great day!
03.31.04 (9:11 pm) [edit]
Just wanted to take a minute to write about my raw day! It was great today! Had the best smoothie ever for breakfast and the best greek salad ever for lunch. I love eating this way! Then I made some of my amazing raw date squares and if you love date squares then you would be crazy for my raw ones. They are awesome! Then had some avocado and veggies and another couple of date bars and I feel fantastic! I am telling you, when you eat raw foods, your body literally buzzes with energy and excitement :D Tomorrow I plan to pig out on green juice in the morning. Right now my body is saying "hit the hay girl!" and so I am on my way to sweet dreams and my great love affair with my pillow!
nite-nite zzzzzzzzzzzz

Humanities most important battle:
03.30.04 (6:57 am) [edit]
"In their book Goldot, Lewis E. Cook Jr. and Junko Yasui recount a very powerful study. The study was performed on the three groups of rats and the results were fascinating. Take a look for yourself before you come to the same conclusions as the researchers.
Group One From birth, the first group of rats were fed a raw diet of fruits, vegetables, nuts, and whole grains. As they grew they experienced every sign of good health. They grew fast. They had strong bodies. They were free from disease. They were also free from excess fat. They reproduced with vigor and enthusiasm and paved the way for their healthy offspring. They were vivacious, spirited, and very affectionate to one another. As soon as they reached the equivalent of 80 human years they were put to sleep and autopsied. Researchers found that every organ, every gland, and every tissue was in perfect condition. A diet of raw food prevented them from experiencing the "normal" signs of ageing and degeneration.
Group Two From birth, this group of rats was fed a diet of cooked foods: Milk, meat, white bread, soda, sweets, cakes, vitamins and medicines. As they grew they experienced many of the same diseases that afflict people in present day society such as colds, fevers, pneumonia, poor eyesight, cataracts, heart disease, arthritis, cancer, etc. But it wasn't just their biological health that was on the line. Their emotional health was also very unstable. They attacked each other consistently. They gave birth to offspring that were constantly ill, and aggressive. Death came prematurely to this group from diseases or various epidemics that swept through the entire colony. Autopsies revealed extensive degeneration to every organ, every gland, and every tissue of their bodies. The researchers had found a very impressive way to accelerate the speed in which the rats aged - by feeding them a diet similar to what most humans eat. The rats paid the ultimate price - early death from disease.
Group Three From birth, this group was fed a diet identical to Group Two until they reached an equivalent human age of 40. They displayed behavioral characteristics identical to those in the previous group and had the same poor quality of health. At the end of this 'equivalent 40 year period' the rats were placed on a strict water fast for a number of days before being introduced to a 100% raw food diet, couple with periods of fasting. The changes were dramatic. Within one month they began showing signs of exceptional health. They became affectionate, playful and more resilient to infection, showing no signs of illness or disease. At the end of an 'equivalent 80 year period', autopsies revealed that this group had completely reversed all sings of ageing on a biological basis. Every organ, every gland, and every tissue was in perfect condition."
This was taken from the book "Raw Perfection" by Mike Nash and is one of the most powerful books I have ever read to date.

Cheerios ~ call your poison control center!
03.29.04 (7:25 pm) [edit]
Don't believe me! Check it out for yourself!
I didn't believe it but go look at the ingredients on your box of Cheerios and you will be shocked. One of the ingredients in there is Trisodium Phosphate or otherwise known as T.S.P. which is a harsh toxic chemical used to clean cement floors. On the T.S.P. bottle it says "This product contains trisodium phosphate, if swallowed call your poison control center immediatly".
OK! If it is poison or even has the potential of being poisonous..."WHAT THE HECK IS IT DOING IN CEREAL!"
It has become very evident to me over the past ten years that you should not just go about believing that just because something is promoted by the media and sold in stores...it sure doesn't mean you should use it or EAT IT!
Food for thought - to maybe think twice before putting anything processed into your mouth!

Veggie burger recipe
03.29.04 (7:07 am) [edit]
Yesterday I decided to try and make another type of veggie burger. I have been trying to make something that looks like those Money's Mushrooms veggie burgers. I loved those things but they are loaded with cheese and are cooked so that is hardly something I will eat. So, I thought I would go as simple as I possibly could and we would see what happened. These burgers are great! Taste so good and stay together so nice and don't take long to dehydrate.
So, here ya go!
Veggie patties 4 large celery sticks 1/3 cup red onion 1/2 cup almonds 2 roma tomatoes 1/4 cup ground flax 1/4 tsp celtic sea salt 1 tsp parsley flakes
In your food processor, mix celery, red onion and almonds until the mixture is very ground up but not mush. Chop and add the roma's and mix in until the tomato is chopped up well, add the remaining ingredients. Place in the dehydrator on a teflex sheet at 105 degrees, flip with a flipper onto the screen sheet after two hours and dehydrate for another three hours. Walla! Just in time for supper! I sandwiched the burger between some pizzaz essene bread and load it with avocado and tomato and it was divine.
Hope you enjoy!

Could this be a first?

We woke up at 5:00 this morning to the most unbelievable thunderstorm. So much lightening and thunder we thought for sure the power was going to go out. It is only March for heaven sakes. My husband is from this area and says in all his life he has never seen a thunderstorm in March.
Along with this storm we have had a major down pour of rain. They actually say we could get up to 40 ml of rain just today. The drains are clogged and our yard is flooding big time. But thank god that is about to end for tomorrow they predict a high of 10 and on Teusday a high of 17. Bring on the summer baby! Bring on the heat! 8)
I wish we could have California weather all year round! How sweet that would be!
Have a rawesome day! :)

Sping into action!
03.24.04 (12:25 pm) [edit]
I am just so caught up in the beauty of the day today! It is only plus 9 degrees outside but it is lovely. Sun is shining and the sky seems so blue. The snow is melting so fast that my back yard is a lake. We saw some birds flying through the yard and there are some kids out riding their bikes. I have seen quite a few people out walking today and it just seems like everything is moving and you can't help but just move right along with it.
And so today I have been cleaning the house like crazy and painting and just having a grand old time. With the windows open and the fresh air flowing through the house, I feel energized to just move. Sitting at the computer for a good part of the day is about to become one of the last things I do as I am about to Spring into action! There is nothing better then Spring. It stirs up the feelings within that just wanna clean up and get active in the beautiful outdoors. Most of my time is about to be spent outside.
Feeling so great and just wanted to share with you a bit of my joy of Spring time!
Enjoy the new life she brings!

Fluoride
03.20.04 (8:49 pm) [edit]
So, get this! My two year old son had to have a tooth pulled because he hit it and broke it and it got infected. He was such a good boy and it went so great! As a parent you just had to be proud. Even all the tears disappeared once they gave him his ball. :)
So they gave me something to put on his other teeth to "protect" them. Wanna guess what it was? Yup! Fluoride! So, I brought it home because I don't want to get into confrontation with people about something like this. Anyway, today I was looking at what it said
"There is enough drug in this package to seriously harm a child. In case of accidental ingestion, seek a physician's assistance or contact a poison control centre."
OK! I ask you this! If this is a toxic "Poison" and it should not be ingested, then why would I put it into his little body...into his mouth? Being a health nut, I just don't understand why people would want to put something that is potentially poisonous into their mouth, no matter how small of an amount. It is poison! Complete insanity in my opinion!
Anyway, "IN THE GARBAGE WITH THAT!"
